This is a super exciting post on the Lucky Mamma blog! It isn’t the first post to go live – nor is it the longest – but this post marks the start of my next £0 to £10k challenge. I have been reselling online for many years using Ebay, vinted and Etsy althought I have had more luck with some than others!
I did let my reselling get a little out of hand and after losing my job through COVID-19 lockdowns used Ebay sales as a way to create a full time income – and it did for a while! In fact – I ended up with 1500 square feet of warehouse and spent 3 days a week on the road sourcing inventory.
I quickly came to realise thought that packing that volume of items and listing all day got OLD. QUICK. I developed the £0 to £10k challenge to fit around family life and working full time. Investing no more than 4 hours a week into the project I set to work. And this system, strategy, process or whatever you want to call it is the result. We will be taking any old item left around the house unwanted – in my case a Brand New Le Creuset Salt Pig with the tag still with it and will be turning this into £10k by the end of 2025.
I listed the item on Facebook Marketplace for £35 (As those that have bought the guide already will know – this strategy works perfectly with a £25 start budget). The item took 11 days to sell and was bought by somebody in Wiltshire. I had a few messages from people who were interested but didn’t buy as you can expect usually from Marketplace, but the total lack of seller fees makes it more than bearable!
The Salt pig was then packaged up with a cardboard box for free, and some fragile tape (Excellent for shipping), I buy the majority of my shipping items from Amazon as it arrives fast and you can easily find the receipts and invoices when filling in your Profit/Loss sheets! If you do wish to buy the fragile tape, please do so with my link and support my work! https://amzn.to/4iA5NZO . I factored just 20p into the packaging cost for this item as of course, I will likely have enough to last me the entire challenge!
So a breakdown of the First Flip in my 2025 £0 to £10k Challenge:
Purchase Price: £0
Sale Price: £35
Postage: £3.75 (Royal Mail Second Class)
Postage Supplies: £1.20 (Box, Travel to post office, Tape, Used Bubble Wrap)
Total Profit: £30.05
So thats a fantastic £30.05 already in the pot. although that might not sound like an aweful lot, when you consider the profit margin its a pretty healthy starting point for the next purchase and I have already got my eye on a cracking deal using Facebook Marketplace and I just need to wait until the seller is home from a holiday to secure it! The best part, It is just up the road!
